The Classic will have an Extremaduran accent with the refereeing of Jesús Gil Manzano from Dombenita. The referee, one of the most experienced in Spanish refereeing, has been chosen by the Technical Committee of Referees for the match between Barcelona and Real Madrid that will be played this Saturday at the Montjuic Olympic Stadium.
It will be the third Classic of his already long refereeing career; the last two ended with a victory for Real Madrid.
The first was in the 2014-2015 season and the match ended with a 3-1 local victory at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium. Also in the Madrid fiefdom he directed his second and last classic, it was in the 2020-2021 campaign and ended with a 2-1 white victory.
International for nine years, the Dombeni native has refereed Barcelona on 36 occasions with a record of 22 culé victories, seven draws and seven defeats. Gil Manzano has also directed 47 Real Madrid games, with 37 wins, 5 draws and five losses for the meringues.
